Heat remains across Northwest Georgia as summer’s final foray is here, but those dog days don’t seem to be going anywhere even as autumn is almost here.

Temperatures are up to the mid 90s for the official high, but the heat index is up to the low 100s as sunshine dominates for the start of the week. That’s being caused by a high pressure system that remains over Northwest Georgia and upper-level ridge that has settled in and is bringing above average temperatures to many portions of the nation over the coming week.

Essentially, copy-and-paste the forecast for the rest of the week: highs in the low to mid 90s, mostly clear skies with little chance for showers and thunderstorms.

It’ll be late next weekend before any chances of rain are back in the forecast for the region, and those chances are low heading into the final days of the season through the start of fall when it arrives on the 22nd.

The good news? Temperatures for the following week MAY start to cool down, but don’t expect it just yet. Summer might extend right through the remainder of the month.

Tropical Forecast

Atlantic storms are starting to brew, but so far the development remains nil along the eastern seaboard while the Pacific Ocean still is a hotbed of circulation amid the 2026 Hurricane Season.

It’ll still be November before the season officially ends, but for now there’s only a slight (less than 30%) chance of development for a storm system being tracked in the Central Atlantic basin that is heading westward but should remain a fish storm no matter what happens.

The Pacific has Tropical Storm Norbert still spinning westward, but it sits at just 45 mph sustained winds and could devolve into a Tropical Depression before it comes close to the Hawaiian Islands. Expect it to stay south of the islands for the time being.

A 15th Tropical Depression has formed behind Norbert off the Southwest Mexican Coast in the Eastern Pacific, sitting at around 30 knot winds and has the potential for strengthening further.
