Expect sunshine to continue to dominate through the start of the week after a warm opening of the season, but those temps are going to come down with a wet weather set to move through during the midweek.

The thermometer won’t be dropping too dramatically, but expect highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s through midweek as rain moves into the area on Tuesday evening and through Wednesday morning.

Chances are still somewhat low at the moment for showers, but the cold front that could bring some more early season rainfall interrupts the springtime sunshine that brought record temperatures last week to much of the nation.

Look for wind gusts up to 15 mph overnight on Tuesday and chances of showers to remain on Wednesday, but temps will get into the low 60s with mostly cloudy skies expected over Northwest Georgia. Clouds will start breaking up overnight with lows back into the 40s.

March sunshine returns on Thursday as highs get into the upper 70s and 80s around the region, with clear skies expected through the rest of the week. Expect a high up into the mid-80s for Friday.

But Friday night will bring a 40-degree swing in temps as the overnight low gets down into the 40s in Northwest Georgia.

Though sunshine will continue to dominate over the weekend, look for highs in the 60s and lows into the 40s overnight for this upcoming Saturday and Sunday.

One thing that won’t be changing despite the temperature: pollen count.

Expect the yellow dust from tree pollens – Oak, Pine, Sweet Gum, etc. – to continue covering every surface it can over the coming days as high counts are being reported from several weather services nationwide.

High pollen count is expected through at least Wednesday and likely into the weeks to come as spring moves into full bloom heading into April.
