TORNADO WATCH: Most of Northwest Georgia in effect through 2 a.m. Thursday

Severe weather is on the way after a round of rain and storms is moving into the area.
Multiple counties are under a tornado watch effective immediately until 2 a.m., which include all of the Northwest Georgia counties.
The Tornado Watch includes Bartow, Chattooga, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Polk, Paulding and Whitfield counties.
Thus far Catoosa, Dade and Walker counties are not under any watches, but are experiencing rain along with much of the rest of Northwest Georgia. A line of storms stretching from Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee in the Smoky Mountains down through Northeast Louisiana are impacting the southeast in “Dixie Alley,” and tornadic activity is being tracked in mid-Louisiana and east of Montgomery, Alabama. Storms north of New Orleans and in mid-east Mississippi are also being tracked for potential development.
Per NWS Peachtree City, the weather outlook through the remainder of the night includes storms with potential for hail, damaging winds and potential tornadoes.
A flood watch also remains in effect through Thursday morning.
