April is ending with the needed showers the month usually brings, and the May flowers might just wait a few days to peek out with temperatures set to dip toward early instead of mid-Spring levels, per the National Weather Service.
Today’s forecast does include some lowered chances for showers and thunderstorms during the day – around the 30% mark in some spots in Northwest Georgia – and will remain overnight during the early morning hours on Thursday. Sunshine will be returning, and the thermometer is set to increase into the 70s for the day.
Slight chances of showers remain in the forecast for Thursday as the cold front pushes through and brings highs and lows down from late April to mid-March levels. Highs on Thursday will be in the 60s and 70s, and lows into the 40s overnight as rain chances begin increasing again.
Friday’s forecast calls for upward of 40% chances of rain, and highs only reaching up into the 60s, and down into the 40s overnight with up to an 80% chance for rain. It’ll mean a wet start to the month of May, including Saturday with an additional 80% chance of showers.
The cold front bringing the rain will keep the thermometer down into the low 70s during the day and low 40s overnight for the first half of the weekend. But good news? Sunshine returns on Sunday and highs will start climbing back up toward the normal range.
Expect a high of 70 on Sunday, and a low back into the 40s overnight (and 30s in some places.) Highs on Monday will get into the mid 70s in some spots in Northwest Georgia, and will remain in the 40s overnight.
Sunshine will bring warmth back by Tuesday as highs get up to the upper 70s and low 80s on the day, and remain there for midweek next week. Additional rain from another cold front pushing through will see the temperature start dropping again into the low 70s as a high and mid to upper 40s as a low through the latter half of next week.
