NWS Peachtree City is predicting a warming trend ahead as May so far has been pleasantly mild for mid-spring, and provided a little relief from dry conditions in recent days with rainfall.
But sunshine is going to dominate for the coming days as the thermometer starts to rise in Northwest Georgia toward summer-like conditions.
Expect highs today to remain in the mid to upper 70s across Northwest Georgia, and dip back down into the lower 50s around the region heading into midweek. Temps are then heading toward the 80s for midweek, and by this weekend are going to start trending toward the 90s.
Expect sunshine and mostly clear skies – with some breezes with gus between 5 to 10 mph to provide some pleasant weather – through the remainder of the week as chances for rain are nil for the time being.
The lows will continue to dip down overnight into the 40s and 50s, but by this weekend when the thermostat around the Southeast gets cranked up, overnight lows will only dip into the 60s.
Saturday’s forecast is calling for the weekend opening with highs in the upper 80s in some parts of Northwest Georgia. Sunday will see the temperatures get into the 90s, and remain there heading into the final week of school around the region.
Chances are right now mixed for wet weather heading into the latter half of the upcoming final week of the school year for graduation ceremonies, but those could increase or decrease as forecast models continue to develop.
One thing that is pretty easy to predict from Peachtree City? The drought conditions continue for the entire state as continued dry weather persists across the southeast. Per the National Weather Service: “we will likely see another stretch of dry weather in Mid-May.”
